Bio

Sara Banyan is a survivor, filmmaker, author, and advocate for childhood sexual trauma awareness. The daughter of a psychiatrist father and a psychiatric nurse mother, she spent decades navigating a mental health system that repeatedly misdiagnosed her before identifying the root cause: early childhood sexual assault. She self-funded and produced the 56-minute documentary I Believe You with her former trauma specialist Will Randle, LCSW, and is the author of the forthcoming book of the same title. She is the founder of A Place to Call Home, a 501(c)(3) supporting youth aging out of foster care.
